Home Improvement Wars

This week, Privacy Wars will be putting two of the most well-known home improvement retail stores against each other. Home Depot will be taking on Lowes. Lowes is where the hardworking folks go, and Home Depot is where doers get more done but do these hardworking people efficiently get their data privacy? Let’s find out!

Round 1: Steps to Request Data

Round 2: Method of Request

Round 3: Complexity of Privacy Page

The only hard doing the doers will be doing is scrolling for 30 minutes….
Much shorter than Home Depot, but that URL is unflattering

Round 4: Cookie Controls

Round 5: Overall Privacy Page Appearance

They have a guide but it vanishes during the first scroll…. ugh!
Too bad the Table of Contents vanishes right after the first scroll, not the cleanest Privacy Policy

Final Score

Lowes barely escapes Home Depot in our closest Privacy Wars yet! Lowes had a shorter Privacy Policy, and a slightly better Policy Statement page. Both companies were generous with request forms but they need a lot of help with their privacy platforms! Looks like the hardworking folks get rewarded in the store and with their data privacy!
